Dust Monitor – High Volume Air Sampler

Lear Siegler High Volume Air Samplers are the “state of the art” in High Volume (70SCFM) air sampling. They draw precise volumes of air through a filter paper of known weight for a set period of time. Filter papers are then reweighed so the particulate loading of the air (in mg/m3) can be calculated. The paper contents can also be examined and analysed.

The PM10 head separates particles smaller than 10 microns from other airborne particulates. Particulates that are greater than 10 microns settle out in the impaction chamber are removed during cleaning or routine maintenance. The particles smaller than 10 micron are carried upward by the air flow and settle in a laboratory supplied quartz fibre filter.

The TSP head collects Total Suspended Particles, without separating particles of different sizes. It is designed to meet requirements for sampling airborne particulates at a known flow rate for a determined amount of time, allowing for proper calculation of airborne particulate concentrations.

Laboratory supplied Glass Fibre Filters are recommended wherever gravimetric weighing analysis may be required because of their non-hygroscopic properties. They will maintain constant weight under wide-ranging ambient humidity conditions and their excellent loading characteristics make them ideal for routine air monitoring, specialised monitoring of solid pollutants, microrganisms, oil and acid smokes.

Features & Benefits

  • Various sampling heads available: PM10, PM2.5 & TSP.
  • Various controller available

Applications

  • Unattended monitoring of airborne particulates found in routine air monitoring.
  • Specialised monitoring of solid pollutants, microrganisms, oil and acid smokes.

Dust Monitor Unit – ADR1500

The ADR-1500 Area Dust Monitor is a nephelometer allowing real-time, airborne dust mass concentration measurements. Air is drawn by an internal pump at a volumetric flow rate adjustable from 1 lpm to 3.5 lpm. Depending on the operator’s need, particle size separation allows Total Dust, PM-1.0, PM-2.5, Thoracic Dust (PM-10) or Alveolar Dust (PM-4.0) concentration measurements.

This separation is achieved by cyclones. The dust thus selected then enters a measuring cell illuminated by a diode emitting in the near infrared.

The light scattered by the dust is measured by a photo detector.

Typical applications for the ADR-1500 are the real-time monitoring of dust concentrations:

  • in ambient air
  • on contaminated sites
  • on construction or renovation sites
  • on the outskirts of industrial sites

The ADR-1500 has an internal memory allowing storage of more than 50 000 measurements. Each record includes the average mass concentration during the set interval, temperature, atmospheric pressure, relative humidity, error codes, date, time, and a number allowing measurement location identification.

The averaging time can be set for any time between 1 second and 1 hour.

Dust Monitor – TEOM

The 1405 TEOM Continuous Ambient Particulate Monitor measures PM-10, PM-2.5, PM-1, or TSP mass concentrations and consists of a TEOM mass sensor and control unit in a network-ready configuration. The TEOM 1405 distinguishes itself from other PM measurement methods by utilising a direct mass measurement that is not subject to measurement uncertainties found in other surrogate technologies. It provides a self-referencing, NIST traceable direct mass measurement. Also available in Dichotomous format measuring BOTH PM2.5 and PM10 simultaneously by separation of course and fine fractions.

Key Features:

    • Utilises TEOM technology to provide direct mass measurements
    • Designed to meet US and International Particulate Monitoring Regulations
    • Compact stand alone unit which is network-ready and configurable to measure PM-10, PM-2.5, PM-1 or TSP concentrations
    • Touch-screen GUI interface quickly and intuitively accesses system status, TEOM data, settings, and instrument conditions
    • A service screen provides access to software wizards which walk the user through calibration and maintenance procedures with detailed instructions and pictures

Dust Monitor – Thermo BAM

The 5014i Beta monitor measures PM-10, PM-2.5 or PM-1 mass concentrations and distinguishes itself from other beta measurement methods by utilising a continuous (non-step wise) mass measurement with a proven industry standard which provides for long-term unattended operation. To accurately address potential water bias and volatile loss, the Dynamic Heating System allows the user to hold the sample temperature at a fixed value or below a relative humidity threshold.

This monitor also features:

    • Flash memory for increased data storage
    • Enhanced Ethernet connectivity
    • Remote data access
    • Easily programmable short-cut keys
    • iPort communication software
    • Modular design for future upgrades and enhancements
    • Auto-advances the particulate-laden sample filter in accordance with user-defined parameters such as mass accumulation limits, timed intervals or the continuous flow rate relative to pressure changes.
    • The filter tape will advance in a continuous pattern, as compared to stepwise measurement, resulting in the mitigation of particle losses.
    • Filter tape auto-advances if the sample exceeds maximum loading criteria.

Recommended for:

    • Air quality monitoring networks, including background sites
    • Used to monitor ambient air quality in the following major applications:
