ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE SERVICES IN PERTH
Environmental noise is the accumulation of noise pollution in an outdoor space, often created by transportation and industrial activity. The World Health Organisation lists the following as potential impacts of exposure to environmental noise:
- Cognitive impairment
- Tinnitus
- Annoyance
- Sleep disturbance
- Hearing impairment
To limit these conditions and comply with the Western Australian Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997 and Australian Standard 2436 – Guide to noise and vibration control on construction, demolition and maintenance sites, businesses must conduct an assessment of environmental noise emissions. This is particularly important for commercial and industrial activity such as:
- bulk handling activities such as vessel loading
- construction activities
- commissioning and operation of fixed and mobile plant
- intensive agriculture industries such as abattoirs, piggeries and saleyards
- manufacturing activities such as those involving asphalt, bricks, cement and chemicals power generation
- processing materials such as ore, sands, coal, oil and gas, and building material
- waste management such as disposal, incineration, recycling and treatment.
Environmental Site Services offer a range of services to help with environmental noise management. This ensures that your business reduces its impact on environmental values, amenity and human health and complies with local guidelines and state regulations. You can read more about each of these services below.

Environmental Noise Assessments
Detailed Environmental Noise Assessments are carried out to enable a robust technical comparison of predicted noise levels with the relevant standards, criteria and noise level criteria set out in Western Australian Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997. . They are integral to environmental noise management plans.

Environmental Noise Monitoring
We supply automated, remote, type 1 accuracy sound level monitoring systems. The solar powered monitoring stations are designed and built in house for short or long term deployment with simple operation and built for security and reliability. It is Ideal for construction jobs, industrial sites, smart city projects and environmental monitoring.

Noise Modelling
Computer noise modelling can be used to to estimate the expected operational noise levels associated with an application and/or proposed activity. The predicted noise levels are often required by local councils where works may affect sensitive receptors or are conducted out of normal hours, and will need to comply with Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997.

Noise and Vibration Management Plans
The purpose of a Noise and Vibration Management Plan (NVMP) is to describe how the environmental impacts of activities related to site works will be:
- adequately monitored, reported on and subject to adaptive management; and/or
- adequately managed where those impacts are not likely to be managed by an outcome-based condition or limitation on the extent of works.
Proponents must comply with the components set out in the management plan. The NVMP will be prepared in accordance with the Australian Standard 2436 – Guide to noise and vibration control on construction, demolition and maintenance sites.

Out of Hours Noise and Vibration Management Plans
Out of hours works must be carried out in accordance with an approved noise and vibration management plan to meet environmental obligations and local government requirements. Out of hours work is any work carried out outside of 7am – 7pm Monday – Saturday, such as weekday evenings, Sunday and public holidays.ENVSS specialises in developing plans for all types of out of hours projects.

Equipment Noise Assessments
Equipment noise assessments measure the sound power emission of earth-moving equipment in a stationary test using Type 1 and 2 Sound Level Meters. These assessments are used to determine noise reduction strategies/investigations and compliance with noise limits.
