ASBESTOS
Onsite exposure to asbestos fibre poses enormous danger to the health of staff and occupiers. ENVSS provides a range of asbestos services to either manage or remove the hazardous material.
Asbestos is a fibrous mineral that was widely used in Australia due to its excellent insulating properties, durability and flexibility. From the 1950s until 2003, asbestos was incorporated into over 3,000 known products ranging from household items to construction materials.
If exposed to asbestos fibres, people can face health risks such as asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma. Illness can develop as late as 25-40 years after exposure to asbestos fibres.
Although use declined from the 1980s, asbestos-containing materials (ACM) can still be present in post 2000’s structures. ACMs can be friable, meaning they easily release fibres, or non-friable, where fibres are bonded within other materials.
ENVSS provides a wealth of services to identify and manage asbestos and its risk to your workers and site.

Asbestos Audits & Registers
Asbestos audits are undertaken to identify and risk assess accessible asbestos materials at a workplace or within the built environment for the purpose of compiling an asbestos register. Notwithstanding any legislative requirements, non-invasive asbestos audits or ‘surveys’ are commonly undertaken as a part of due diligence for property acquisition.

Asbestos Management Plan
An asbestos management plan (AMP) is a readily accessible written plan outlining how a person with management or control of a workplace (PCBU) will manage asbestos at their workplace assisting with the minimisation of risk of accidental damage and subsequent asbestos fibre release.

Asbestos Air Monitoring
Asbestos air monitoring is essential for assessing exposure risks associated with airborne asbestos fibres; be it within, or adjacent to the asbestos removal area or a workers breathing zone. We tailor our air monitoring plans to each individual workplace, and asbestos work area, taking into account the workplaces regular usage; the type, condition and location of asbestos containing materials (ACM) and the proposed removal methodologies and controls.

Asbestos Testing
Our team members are trained, highly skilled and competent to collect samples of suspect materials, or if you have a sample that needs analysing; we provide asbestos testing and National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accredited analysis. delivering a certificate of analysis within three business days or, when it’s urgent; same day services are available on request.

Asbestos Awareness Training
ENVSS offers asbestos awareness training in accordance with the Code of Practice – How to manage and control asbestos. The training is tailored to each individual site taking into consideration the current asbestos hazard, management and control specifics as outlined in the asbestos management plan (AMP)

Asbestos Clearance Inspections
WHS legislation mandates; for all licensed asbestos removal work, that a clearance inspection must be carried out by an independent competent person (ICP), to verify that the asbestos removal area is free and clear of visible dust and debris, the area is safe for normal use, and that an Asbestos Clearance Certificate is issued in writing prior to re-occupancy. For asbestos removal that must be carried out by a Class A asbestos removal licence holder, the ICP must be a Licensed Asbestos Assessor (LAA).
