At Environmental Site Services (ENVSS), we provide a comprehensive NABERS service that helps our clients meet Australia’s highest standards for indoor environmental quality.
We pair a vast range of measuring equipment with the experience and expertise of our staff to deliver accurate, certification-ready results from NATA-accredited laboratories.
Our data will support your building’s efficiency and compliance, improving its performance, occupant health and sustainability.
If you would like to speak with an accredited NABERs assessor about the process, you can contact ENVSS at admin@envss.com.au or on (08) 9355 4010.
In industrial workplaces, indoor air often contains more pollutants than outdoor environments, impacting the health, comfort and safety of building occupants. Poor indoor air quality could lead to:
Headaches, fatigue and poor concentration
Respiratory issues and absenteeism
Tenant complaints and higher churn
Barriers to leasing, ESG reporting and certification
Your NABERS Indoor Environment (IE) rating is a direct reflection of how efficiently your building protects occupants from these dangers.
NABERS (National Australian Built Environment Rating System) is a government-run program that measures the environmental performance of Australian buildings. It assigns a 0 to 6 star rating based on data-driven environmental performance.
The IE rating reflects how well a building supports occupant health, wellbeing and comfort. It applies to both Base Building (landlord-managed) and Tenancy spaces.
An IE rating will help your site:
Meet government and tenant requirements for ESG and indoor health
Improve tenant satisfaction, reduce sick leave and support green leasing
Gain a competitive edge in property management and leasing negotiations
Our team of occupational hygienists and accredited NABERS assessors will guide you through the entire accreditation process, including:
Pre-assessment consultation and readiness reviews to best prepare you for the assessment
Data collection with certified and calibrated instruments
NATA-accredited data verification including lab testing and validation
Rating calculation, where we input our full report into the NABERS system to reach a star rating
Lodgement and Certification of all documentation to the NSW Government, which administers NABERS on behalf of WA
Post-assessment improvement guidance and consulting provided if required
Your NABERS certification and the attached rating are valid for 12 months. Our team is able to arrange annual re-ratings for your site.
When gathering IE data, we will measure for:
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
Formaldehyde & Carbon Monoxide (CO)
Particulate Matter (PM₂.₅ & PM₁₀)
Temperature & Relative Humidity
Illuminance (light levels)
Acoustic Comfort (optional)
NABERS is often confused with the similar, but different, Green Star program.
The key difference is that NABERS is focused on operational performance, whilst Green Star is focused on design and construction standards. The former is about efficiency and the latter sustainability.
It would be best to engage a NABERS assessor for:
Benchmarking your building’s indoor environment performance with real operational data
Supporting applications for environmental certifications or green leasing programs
Tracking year-on-year performance improvements in building efficiency
Preparing for a Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) submission or tenancy upgrade strategy
Obtaining a NABERS Indoor Environment rating can increase tenant appeal, improve compliance and identify opportunities for greater efficiency. It will also complement your Green Star rating.
